Following the introduction of our state-of-the-art mobile training unit in June 2005, with the support of Yorkshire Forward and the Learning and Skills Council, our 'Educational Outreach Programme' has become well established. The programme stimulates interest and awareness in electronics at an early age, and is designed to ensure a bright future for the industry within the region.
The unique vehicle has been visiting schools throughout the region. Students have enjoyed the practical projects and the opportunity to solder and make a practical electronics product they can keep. Feedback from the students who have experienced using the MTU at their school speak for themselves:
'I had a wonderful time and would love to do these kind of things again.'
'The best bit was learning all of the things with professional people.'
'I think the bus looks really professional.'
'I enjoyed it very much and would like to do it again.'
'The best bit was seeing my finished product and playing with it.'
This service is free of charge to schools in Yorkshire and Humber. If you would like to experience the Electronics Yorkshire Mobile Training Unit for yourself contact Bronwen Ella at bronwene@electronicsyorkshire.org.uk, or telephone 0113 274 4270. Alternatively, please use the Contact Us form.
