How Electronics Yorkshire helped Sound Leisure Ltd

Sound Leisure is the UK's leading manufacturer of digital audio and video jukeboxes and music systems for use in the leisure and retail sectors and manufacturers of reproduction hand built classic jukeboxes. Additionally, they manufacture a wide range of display solutions for the retail sector and have extensive research and development experience in electronic design, software design, product design and development utilising their diverse in-house facilities.

Having been tasked with leading the company towards compliance with the new WEEE and RoHS legislation it quickly became apparent that I needed some assistance. Since joining the Electronics Yorkshire Network in April 2005 and attending the awareness seminar in June that year I knew local help was at hand.

Following advice from your visit and the Product and Process Review carried out in July of last year, I set up a small project team from the R&D, production, purchasing, sales and stores functions. All our department managers and sales team have now attended WEEE and RoHS awareness sessions run by myself.

Sound Leisure recently took delivery of a new lead-free wave solder machine for our Nottingham factory and our planning also includes utilising the testing facilities at Electronics Yorkshire to check several of their electronics components. Thanks to the help of Electronics Yorkshire, Sound Leisure has been able to meet the RoHS July 1st 2006 deadline.
