How Electronics Yorkshire helped Teledyne Defence Ltd

Teledyne Defence Ltd uses Electronics Yorkshire’s advanced testing equipment on a regular basis to ensure that components, such as connectors, and products, such as filters, are fit for purpose.

The product development team at Teledyne has found that equipment such as the X-ray inspection system, the Votsch Environmental Chamber and the Lynx Vision System are key to assisting us to make continuous process improvements, improving ‘productionability’ and ensuring high standards of workmanship – a prerequisite when working in the defence industry. In addition, using the equipment enables us to check the integrity of solder under circuits and in connector holes.

Teledyne Defence, based in Shipley, has been supplying microwave components and integrated subsystems to the defence industry for over 20 years and is a qualified source of key electronics defence building blocks to the majority of the world’s prime defence contractors.

Teledyne’s products are used primarily on the radars, Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems and Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) systems that protect modern military platforms from hostile threats. It is vital, therefore, that we test our components and products to the very highest standards – the facilities at EY enable us to do that quickly and efficiently, with the added benefit of experienced and knowledgeable staff being on-hand to help us through the process.
